About FLY Dance Company FLY
is wowing audiences all over U.S., receiving one standing ovation after
another. Why? Because FLY is pure fun — youthful energy, risk-taking
movement, and clever choreography to surprising musical selections. There
is no other group like FLY.
The Company and Artist Director
FLY Dance Company is an all-male group of street dancers aged 22-26 directed
by Kathy Wood. Kathy is a veteran choreographer who has melded the hip-hop
style, moves, and tricks with contemporary choreography to produce a new
genre of dance. (More on the History page).
Expanding Dance Audiences
FLY is expanding dance audiences wherever they go. They attract new attendees
because their appeal cuts through age, sex, ethnic, and cultural boundaries.
The 2003-2004 performance season bears this out. FLY's touring alone
included 59 concerts with over 100 outreach performances and workshops
in 19 states in venues as diverse as the Kennedy Center's Theatre
Lab, Virginia Arts Festival, Oregon State Fair, Midland Odessa Symphony
and Chorale, Detroit Street Festival, universities including Monmouth,
Kutztown, U Mass, Cal State, Western Illinois, Eastern Wyoming and
Rutgers, and regional performing arts theaters to numerous to list.
(Please see
the References page.) Locally in Houston, FLY draws audiences of
over 2,000 to a yearly concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre. In previous
years, FLY has been enthusiastically received in Mexico, Paris, and
Estonia. In addition to providing community service, FLY's outreach
performances add significantly to concert attendance.
Performance and Outreach offering
There three different concert offerings "entitled
"FLY in Concert" "Triad" "and "The Symphonic FLY" available for each.
FLY's scripted, curriculum-based
outreach programs (with program guides) and
workshops are frequently booked in conjunction with concerts. These
offerings are ideal for residencies and bussed-in shows. (Feedback available.)
Special Events Offerings
For special events such as conventions, corporate gatherings, and fund
raisers, FLY's high-energy, exciting, family entertainment will highlight
any program, meeting, or exhibition.
Underwriting for Performance
Fees
Since FLY is on the Texas Commission for the Arts touring roster, Texas
presenters are eligible for 50% underwriting of FLY performance fees.
In the central U.S. 25-30% underwriting is available through The Heartland
Arts Found. Organizations in other regions have similar programs to support
the arts across America.

FLY can be booked for touring year-round. Presenters
making inquiries regarding a FLY engagement
can request materials including press kits and promo videos.
Post-Agreement Support Materials
Once FLY has been booked, presenters can request materials including posters,
digital photos, Beta video (loaned), press release samples, company bios,
concert program information, outreach program guides, and lighting packet
